FAQ - Indiana University Varsity Club

Established in 1954, the Varsity Club serves as the development arm of the IU Athletic Department, leading fundraising efforts for annual student-athlete scholarship support, endowment support and capital projects.

IU currently has over 617 student athletes in 24 varsity sports representing the university academically and athletically. The financial support provided by Varsity Club donors allows us to offer athletic scholarships to the most talented student-athletes and maintain top-notch athletic facilities. With the help generous donors, the Varsity Club is ensuring our legacy continues for the next generation of student-athletes.

Anyone interested in supporting student-athletes at IU may join the Varsity Club. Many of our donors attended IU, but you don't need to be an Indiana University alumnus or letter winner to show your support - we welcome all IU fans. When you contribute to the Annual Campaign for Student-Athletes, your donation goes to support scholarship opportunities for IU student-athletes. Every gift, no matter the amount, brings us closer to meeting the total scholarship costs for our dedicated IU student-athletes.

As of January 1, 2018, the tax reform bill repealed the 80% charitable deduction available for donations that provided individuals the right to purchase collegiate athletic tickets. For IU Athletics, this repeal affects contributions that were already limited to an 80% deduction because certain donations were required for premium seats in the following areas: Memorial Stadium - all Stadium Club seats, suites, and Henke Hall of Champions seating; and Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall - all court level seats and the Henke Sprit of '76 Club.
At this time, all other gifts to IU Athletics will continue to receive a donation acknowledgment. This includes any and all other gifts to annual giving, capital projects, endowments, and other pledges to IU Athletics. Each individual donor will need to determine the tax implications of their gift.
We strongly encourage you to consult your own professional tax advisor on these matters as with all of your other financial decisions that involve potential tax implications.

The Varsity Club has eight giving campaign levels based on annual giving amounts. Donor Benefits, such as premium seat location and parking, recognition in publications and invitations to exclusive events, increase with level of support.

Individuals are able to purchase 8 season tickets on the first Priority Point pass. Any additional seats will be allocated on the second pass.

Yes! Each member of your group must list the same group leader on their application.

Your selection date and time will be determined by the average of your group’s Priority Points.

During the group’s selection time, the group leader will select the season ticket location.

Faculty and staff can enroll in payroll deduction. Please contact our office with any questions at (812)855-0866.

Yes. The faculty/staff have first priority in sections 27-29. Public season ticket holders can only pick in these sections after the faculty staff have selected.

Yes. The faculty/staff can select seats in any general public seating area in accordance to their Priority Points with all season ticket holders
