Indiana University has over a half a million IU alumni and fans around the world. We are proud of our dedicated supporters. The Varsity Club has 6,500 donors to our annual giving fund each year. With an active staff of 13 individuals, the Varsity Club isn't able to reach every alumni and fan of Indiana University Athletics. That's where you come in!
The Ambassador Referral Program is intended to spread the word about the Varsity Club and encourage other Hoosier alumni and fans to support scholarship opportunities for student-athletes. The goals of this program are to 1.) increase the number of donors to the Varsity Club's annual giving fund, and 2.) reward existing donors who persuade their personal contacts to become new Varsity Club donors.
As a Varsity Club donor, you provide opportunities for student-athletes in all of IU's 24 varsity sports to compete at the highest level. We hope you will share your passion for IU Athletics and help to continue the mission of the Varsity Club by influencing new donors to also support student-athlete scholarships. We challenge you to become Ambassadors for the IU Varsity Club! In exchange for referring new donors, we will reward you with priority points used for preferred seating at football and men's basketball games.

How can I become an Ambassador?
Any gift of $100 or greater qualifies a donor as a Varsity Club member. Your personal testimony about what it means to be a Varsity Club member is the most powerful recruiting tool when talking to prospective donors. When reaching out to family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and fellow IU alumni we encourage you to share the many reasons why you are involved in IU Athletics and the Varsity Club.
Are there materials I can use?
The Varsity Club can provide you with materials, such as our annual giving brochure, that can better inform prospective donors about the annual giving program.
What benefits do I receive if I refer a donor to the IU Varsity Club?
As an "Ambassador" for the Varsity Club, your efforts will be rewarded in the form of IU Priority Points. For every $100 donated to the Varsity Club Annual Giving Fund by the new donor, the Ambassador will receive three (3) Non-Accumulative Priority Points. These points are used for the allocation of seats at football and men's basketball games.
When will the Ambassador receive point credit for the gift?
Ambassador points will be granted to your account in July based on contributions made in the prior year (July 1-June 30).
How do you know I referred someone?
When you find a Hoosier fan interested in giving to the Varsity Club, please fill out the Ambassador Gift Form. In order for the Ambassador to be eligible for priority points, this form must be filled out in the same Varsity Club Annual Giving year as the new member gift is made.
I referred someone to the Varsity Club last year; can I still collect the points?
We appreciate your support in communicating your passion for the Varsity club by referring a new donor. However, this program only applies to those who have referred someone using the Ambassador Gift Form. We hope you continue your support and refer more great Hoosier fans.
Am I supposed to fill the form out, or does the new member have to fill it out?
As long as the form is complete with all information required, we have no preference on who fills out the form.
Can I still receive points if my friend signs up for IU Varsity Club membership online?
Yes, as long as you fill out the Ambassador Gift Form in the same Varsity Club Annual Giving year as the gift is made.
