IU Athletics is committed to providing each of its 650-plus student-athletes the tools necessary to excel athletically and academically and to be well prepared for the next stage of life after they earn their Indiana University degree. It’s a promise that we make to our students when they choose to represent the Cream and Crimson, and we will never waver from that pledge.
In our efforts to compete at the highest levels in the Big Ten and nationally, IU Athletics is also committed to offering each of our 24 varsity teams the maximum number of scholarships permitted by the NCAA. To fund this, our department pays Indiana University approximately $20 million annually in scholarship support (tuition, room, board, fees, and books) for our 650-plus student-athletes. IU Athletics does this without any special university subsidy, fee remission, discounted rate, student fee or state appropriation.
As if the case for any Indiana University student, these educational costs continue to rise. In the last decade our scholarship bill has increased more than 80%, making the financial support of passionate Hoosiers like yourself critical to our students’ opportunities and successes.
There are three primary ways that you can support the IU Varsity Club so that we can fulfill our pledge to our students – our Annual Giving Campaign, the IU Glaubinger Athletic Endowment, and through a named endowed scholarship. Each is a critical component of the Varsity Club’s efforts to support our students.
Most Hoosier fans are familiar with our Annual Giving Campaign, which you can learn more about HERE. But as important as our annual giving efforts are, though, they do not fully-fund our scholarship bill. And that is where supporting the IU Glaubinger Athletic Endowment or making an Endowment Gift come in. Both of these gift options offer the opportunity address the scholarship needs of today and tomorrow.
